“thy word have i hidden in my heart…(number 7)” — PRINT

i’ve been working on a series, quietly pondering and thinking, about religiosity and brokenness and feeling and being torn but wanting, desiring, connection. in some ways, a return to my practice from fall 2017, but now with more thought about blackness and blackqueerness and mysticism and joy as the root. titled “thy word have i hidden in my heart…” but stopping short of the scripture’s denouement intentionally. both because i don’t believe in sin and because i’m interested in hiddenness and what is disclosed, made available, by withdrawal and retreat into blackness, into blackqueerness. tryna think with the tradition that formed me but also torn me. thy word, thy world, hidden.
